A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Josef Onoh, has criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that his eight-year tenure was marked by widespread corruption, economic collapse, and insecurity.

Onoh made this statement on Friday while responding to Buhari’s recent claim that Nigeria saw significant improvements in security and the economy under his leadership.

Buhari had argued that he inherited a weak economy and security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was in power for 16 years before him. He insisted that his government successfully addressed these issues, reducing terrorism and economic hardship.

Reacting to Buhari’s remarks, Onoh dismissed his claims, stating that the former president left behind a collapsed economy, rampant corruption, and worsening insecurity.

He further asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is now struggling to fix the damage caused by Buhari’s mismanagement.

“Nigerians today blame Tinubu’s administration, calling it the worst they have seen, without realizing that the President has chosen to remain silent and carry the burden alone instead of pointing fingers or making excuses.”
