The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that the support group recently inaugurated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is not an official initiative of the party’s national leadership.

 

Speaking on the development, the APC Chairman stated that the inauguration of the pro-Tinubu group did not emanate from his office and should not be linked to the party’s formal structure or to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

 

“What Wike inaugurated was a support group for Tinubu, and it is not coming from my office, so it has nothing to do with Fubara and the party structure,” he said.

 

The chairman emphasized that the APC would follow due process in formally receiving Governor Fubara, noting that any official ceremony related to the governor would be handled directly by the party’s national leadership.

 

“We will inaugurate and usher Fubara in officially after Ramadan,” he added.

 

The comments come amid heightened political realignments and speculations surrounding alliances within Rivers State and at the national level. Observers say the clarification is aimed at drawing a clear line between individual political initiatives and actions formally sanctioned by the APC’s national hierarchy.

 

Party insiders indicate that preparations are underway for a structured event to formally welcome Fubara, with details expected to be announced after the Ramadan fasting period.
