The Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, has confirmed December 17 - 18 as dates for the state Local Football Council, LFC, and Board by-elections, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

This is also as the ANSFA, headed by former Super Eagles defender, Chief Chikelue 'General' Iloenyosi, has constituted a five-member Electoral Committee and a three-man Appeals Committee for the polls.

Rising from its virtual meeting on Wednesday, 3 December, 2025, the ANSFA Board named Barrister Uche Okeke as Chairman of the Electoral Committee with  Chairman
Barr. Obi Ebosie, Barr. Chidozie Ogbuefi, Hon. Francis Agbatta and Hon. Lawrence Nwekwe as members.

The Appeals Committee has Barr. Ugochukwu Adilieje as Chairman with
Mr. Chiadi Obidi and Barr. Cyril Ezimaka as embers.

According to a Communique released after the virtual meeting, the elections are billed for 17-18 December, 2025.

The Communique released after the Executive Committee of ANSFA heartily congratulated the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, on their re-election victory.

The Board expressed profound appreciation for their total support, encouragement, and commitment toward the growth of football in Anambra State.

The executive committee deliberated on the expiration of the tenure of the Local Football Councils and the four unfilled positions of membership of the Executive Board and resolved to immediately hold elections as directed by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF).

Checks reveal that there are four vacant positions in the Executive Board of the FA while the tenure of the Local Football Councils has expired.

The LFC and Board by-elections will prepare ground for the ANSFA Board Elections billed for 2026 when the tenure of the current board would have expired.

The Board passed a unanimous vote of the leadership of the Anambra State Football Association led by Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, commending his dedication and efforts toward repositioning football in the state.
