Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, has passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the FA under Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

At the maiden Annual General Assembly, AGA, of the association Friday at the East End Hotel, Awka, the ANSFA Board also ratified the five - year Suspension clamped on two stakeholders, --Chijioke Onyedika and Barrister Iyke Igbokwe.

The AGA came three weeks after the Local Football Councils elections in the State as well as the By-election to fill four vacant positions in the Board, completing the board membership to nine.

All the Board members were in attendance in Fridays Annual General Assembly, AGA, with the exception of Oliver Ndigwe, a former Nigeria junior international who traveled out of the country.

In an eight (8) point communique, the Annual Assembly congratulated His Excellency, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, on his recent re-election for a second term victory. The Assembly also thanked him for the inclusion of football in the 'Onwa Dezemba' Yueltide celebrations. 

The Assembly also thanked Chief (Dr) Polycarp Emenike (Odenigbo Nanka) CEO, Neros Pharmaceuticals Ltd for his continuous sponsorship of the Neros/Anambra State FA Cup, running over 25 years. 

The AGA also thanked Chief Martin Nwabueze (Akubudike N’umudioka) for taking up the sponsorship of the first Anambra State Football League after many shied away.

The Assembly further appreciated the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, led by Alh. Ibrahim Gusau for providing enabling environment for football growth and advancement in Nigeria.

Also, the Annual General Assembly praised the leadership of the State Football Association for the tremendous improvement of the game and the new wave of grassroots’ football development across the state.

The Assembly also approved the FA’s budget for 2026 financial year as presented. The AGA also confirmed the 5-year suspension of two individuals;-- Mr. Ikechukwu Leonard Igbokwe and Mr. Chijioke Onyedika from taking part in football activities in Anambra State.

The AGA called on the well meaning individuals and corporate bodies to invest more in football infrastructures, development and competitions.

The Annual General Assembly unanimously passed vote of Confidence on the leadership of the Anambra State football Association led by Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi for his exemplary stewardship in advancing football in the State.

Earlier in his address, the ANSFA Board Chairman and former Super Eagles defender, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, enumerated his administration's milestone achievements since coming into office.

Iloenyosi, who, as a player, represented the country at junior and senior levels, including at the Olympic Games, stated that such achievements were made possible by the enabling environment provided by the state government under His Excellency, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as governor.

"Under my watch, the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, kick-started the Anambra State Football League, a feat that had not been achieved in the past 30 years", Iloenyosi began.

"We also initiated the All Stars Football Competition, aimed at promoting togetherness amongst retired footballers and enthusiasts.

"We've also organised football scouting programs for players of 17 years and below, which brought Natiinal U-17 Team, Golden Eaglets Head Coach, Manu Garba, to the state.

"This was aimed at providing our young talents the needed exposure and training. That's not all.

"The Anambra FA under my watch, has continued to ensure that our stakeholders capacities are developed and serve as Match Commissioners and referees in all the nation's football leagues -- NPFL and NNL -- providing them opportunities to grow and develop", Iloenyosi said.

 The 'Chief Priest in the Temple of Football in Anambra State' thanked the Anambra State Government led by Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo (Oluatuegwu) for creating the enabling environment for Sports to grow in the state, football being the key driver.

"His support has been key for our progress and we look forward to a continued collaboration.

"I won't fail to also thank key football stakeholders in the state and the nation at large, worth mentioning are the NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi, NFF Disciplinary Committee Chairman Barrister JBC Obikwelu, Prof Poly Emenike CEO Neros Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Chief Uzor Epundu, Chief Jude Anyadifu, Alhaji Sherif Allan -Kano Staye FA Chairman and many others.

"I also want to thank in a special way, High Chief Jim Martins Nwabueze (Agubuzo na Dunukofia, Akubudike 1 na Umudioka) for coming to our rescue by sponsoring the Anambra State Football League which had not been held for over 30 years", Iloenyosi said.
