ANFASSC Mobilises Massive Support for Rivers United in CAF Champions League Clash against RS Berkane
The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) has launched a full-scale mobilisation campaign to boost Rivers United ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League Group Stage encounter against Moroccan giants RS Berkane on Friday, November 28, 2025.
With the match set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, hundreds of ANFASSC members travelled in large numbers to Akwa Ibom State to create an electrifying atmosphere in support of Nigeria’s lone representative in the competition.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated fixture, ANFASSC National President, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, praised the Rivers State Commissioner of Sports, Chris Green, for what he described as “exceptional coordination and support” for the club — a factor he believes will play a pivotal role in reinvigorating Rivers United’s continental charge after their narrow opening-day loss to Pyramids FC.
“ANFASSC stands firmly behind Rivers United. We believe in the talent, dedication, and fighting spirit of the players,” Ogunjimi said. “With the backing of Chris Green and the entire Rivers State sports community, our supporters will ensure the team feels our presence every minute of this match.”
Rivers United entered the group stage in dramatic fashion, overturning a first-leg deficit to defeat Mozambique’s Black Bulls at home — a victory that secured their place as Nigeria’s first NPFL side in several seasons to reach this phase of the competition.
Despite a 3–0 defeat to Pyramids FC in their group opener, optimism remains high within the ANFASSC camp. The supporters believe that the intimidating atmosphere at the CAF-approved Godswill Akpabio Stadium will provide the perfect backdrop for a strong response against RS Berkane, one of North Africa’s most formidable club sides.
ANFASSC has also issued a rallying call to all Nigerian football enthusiasts and Rivers United fans worldwide to unite in vocal and moral support of the Pride of Rivers.
“This is the moment for all patriotic supporters to raise their voices,” the club stated. “Rivers United carries the hopes of Nigerian club football on the continental stage, and together, we can inspire them to greatness.”
The showdown in Uyo promises not only to test Rivers United’s resolve but also to showcase the passion and unity of Nigerian football supporters as the club seeks to revive its Champions League campaign.
