The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) is calling for further investigation into the shocking arrest and mistreatment of Nigerian football legend Maureen Madu. The Chairman of ANSFA, Chikelue 'General' Iloenyosi, condemned the invasion of Madu's football academy by officers from the Anti Cult unit in Ukpo, who beat up players and destroyed their phones.

The incident began when a parent, Uchenna Onyekwunife, abandoned his daughter at Madu's academy for four months without paying upkeep or visiting her. When Madu tried to return the child, the parent sent a petition filled with false allegations, including armed gangsterism, cultism, and child trafficking.

The police officers involved in the arrest have been detained, and the petitioner has been ordered to replace the destroyed phones and items. The Anambra State FA has vowed to support Madu in seeking justice and restoring her honor.

Madu, a former Super Falcons striker, had an illustrious football career, playing in several clubs in Nigeria and Europe, and representing Nigeria in four Women's World Cups and two Olympic Games.
