Former Super Eagles and FC Barcelona winger Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed his excitement on the steady rise of the Nigerian Premier Football League. He made this expression on Sunday in Aba after watching Heartland FC defeat Sporting Lagos 3-1 in an NPFL week 29 fixture.

Speaking to the media after the match the 1994 African footballer of the year commended the league organizers and the clubs for their impressive organization, packaging and general performance so far this season " I have seen some matches in the NPFL this season, I have been privileged to watch couple of teams this season from Heartland FC, Rangers, Enyimba FC, Sporting Lagos just to mention but a few. I think I like the level of awareness from the players and the youthfulness in the teams. Football is all about creating opportunities for the young ones, giving them an enabling environment to thrive and I think I commend the teams for that.

 

 

The 2015 FIFA under-17 World Cup winning coach also commended Heartland FC for their deserved victory over Sporting Lagos and also expressed optimism in the possibility of the 2009 CAF Champions League runners up to beat the drop this season.
