AMAC Unity Cup Kicks Off with 23 Teams Competing in 6th Edition
The 2025 edition of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Football Coaches Unity Cup officially kicks off on Tuesday, June 3, with 23 teams from across the council set to battle for glory in the grassroots football competition.
Now in its 6th edition, the tournament features a mix of football clubs and academies drawn from within the area council. The competition was formally set in motion over the weekend with the official draws.
Defending champions Gwarimpa United will open their title defense against Jibril FA in the tournament’s curtain-raiser at the Area 3 playing pitch in Garki, Abuja.
Other fixtures on Match Day 1 include:
• Fine Trust FC vs Super Stars at 12 PM
• Youthful Ballers vs Jawab Sports at 2 PM
• Crown Tee vs Sporting Dreams at 4 PM
Match Day 2 – Wednesday, June 4, 2025:
• Kicker FC vs Gbagyi FC at 10 AM
• Eagles’ Wings vs Young Professionals at 12 PM
• AS Roma vs Galadima FC at 2 PM
Match Day 3 – Thursday, June 5, 2025:
• Glimsports FC vs Alpha United at 10 AM
• One Touch FC vs Gwarimpa United at 12 PM
• SSG FC vs Youthful Ballers at 2 PM
• G-Medix FC vs Kicker FC at 4 PM
Chairman of the AMAC Football Coaches Council, Kenny Owojori, emphasized the need for discipline and professionalism throughout the tournament. He advised all participating teams to ensure their players are fully kitted, including the use of shin guards, and stressed the importance of arriving at match venues at least one hour before kickoff.
The AMAC Unity Cup continues to serve as a vital platform for unearthing and nurturing grassroots football talent in the Federal Capital Territory, while also fostering camaraderie among coaches and players in the region.
