All African Games: Offiong Edem Wins First Medal For Nigeria

Offiong Edem has won Nigeria’s first medal at the 13th All African Games in Accra, Ghana.

The veteran table tennis star lost 4-0 in the semi-final to Egypt’s Dina Meshref making it the second consecutive bronze medal she would be winning at the Africa Games.

 

Reacting afterwards, she attributed her success to the experience garnered from the World Table Tennis Championship she attend in Korea last year however showering praise on the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF).

“I am so happy that we were able to attend the last World Championships in Korea, and this really helped my game a lot. I want to thank the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) for their support, and I believe attending such a competition really helped me personally here in Ghana,” she said.

“The Egyptians are ahead of us because they attend more competitions than us, and we hope we can get such support to return to the top of the game in Africa.” She said.
