Samson Akunna was the hero of the day as his second half brace secured a Sunday evening bragging rights for Petson FC over the visiting Super Warriors FC of Umuahia in a keenly contested friendly match.

The contest which was staged at the iconic All Saints Secondary School Ogborhill Aba was the first time both sides were meeting in an exchange of soccer hostilities and the visitors immediately announced their arrival with early flashes of brilliance as lanky striker Ugochukwu Christian proved a handful for the hosts' backline couple of times.

The contention wore on with both sides trying to draw the first blood which didn't come to a fruition as the first stanza failed to produce a goal heading into the halftime break.

Upon second half resumption,  coach Emma Dickson rang some couple of alterations with the likes of captain Eze Christopher, Clinton Emelogu all thrown onto the pitch in a search for the much needed goals. The goalscoring signs became so evident when Akunna Samson's freekick on the edge flew inches off the target amid other barrage of attacking intent from the host team but goalkeeper Udeme Uduakpan made himself so big in between the sticks for the visitors. 

Midway into the second half the breakthrough finally came for Petson FC when striker Akunna Samson controlled a beautiful through ball to shoot into the topcorner for the game's opening goal. The goalscorer immediately got his brace when he latched onto a delicious pass from Ebuka Destiny to slot home from close range-a goal that ultimately sealed victory for Petson FC as the contest came to a climax after regulation time.

Reacting after the match, coah Emma Dickson praised the effort of his boys and pointed out the fact that they came up with the right mentality in the second half also admitting that the Petson project is still work in progress. 

The Petson FC returns back to training on Tuesday morning with a rigorous workout set to define what promises to be an engagement week for the Aba based outfit as they seek to prepare for a blockbuster friendly with start studded De Team Professionals in a matter of weeks.
