Former Bayelsa Queens coach, Akeem Ishola Busari, has been named the new Technical Adviser of Pacesetter Queens, the Oyo State women’s football team.

Busari, a highly respected figure in Nigerian women’s football, will head the team’s technical department as they gear up for their maiden campaign in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Assisting him in the technical crew are Wole Animashaun, Damilola Badmus, Lukman Lateef, Folusho Ajayi, Raji Yekini, and other backroom staff members.

According to the Oyo State Sports Council, Busari’s appointment is part of the state government’s renewed drive to revitalize women’s football and establish Pacesetter Queens as a competitive force on the national scene.

Busari, who previously led Bayelsa Queens to several notable achievements, is expected to bring his tactical depth and leadership experience to the young side as they embark on a rebuilding journey.

Pacesetter Queens, debutants in the top flight, will begin their NWFL Premiership campaign against Adamawa Queens at the Makwada Stadium. They will also face Busari’s former side, Bayelsa Queens, in Group A, which also features Edo Queens, Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, Naija Ratels, Ibom Angels, Castmog Ladies, and Rivers Angels.

The appointment of Busari marks a significant step in Oyo State’s ambition to make Pacesetter Queens a household name in Nigerian women’s football.
