Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State don swear in new local government chairmen and councillors for di state.

Di swearing-in ceremony happen for Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo on Sunday, February 23, 2024. All di chairmen and councillors na members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and dem win di election wey dem do on Saturday.

For him speech, Governor Adeleke talk say di swearing-in na big milestone for Osun State democracy, and say di election follow due process.

“We dey here to finish wetin we don start for this democratic process wey we work hard to achieve,” na wetin Adeleke talk.

Before him speech, di governor ask make dem do one minute silence for people wey die during di “illegal APC takeover of local government secretariats.”

Adeleke explain how di journey to di local government election start, and say Osun State Independent Electoral Commission follow all di legal procedures.

“Di state electoral body don give notice for di election since one year ago. I know say di commission follow all di rules and na why we get new local government chairmen and councillors today,” he talk.

Even as some legal wahala dey surround di election, Adeleke talk say him administration no break any law.

Addressing di new chairmen and councillors, Adeleke tell dem make dem be “agents of change, community developers, and make dem give people di benefits of democracy.”

He also thank Osun people for di support wey dem give am and him party, and promise say him go continue to focus on di welfare of di people.

Adeleke still thank President Bola Tinubu for no allow some people cause trouble for Osun State.

Di governor kon advise di new chairmen and councillors make dem no go di local government secretariats for now because court case dey ground about di leadership matter.

“I beg una, make una no go di council secretariats to avoid fight with di people wey police support to take over di secretariats,” Adeleke warn.

He talk say di government go wait for court to settle di matter and advise di new officials to respect di rule of law.

With that, Adeleke officially swear in di new local government chairmen and councillors.

“I, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, di Executive Governor of Osun State, don swear in di elected local government chairmen for Osun State. Congratulations and God bless una,” na so him take end di ceremony.
