Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has assured citizens that the country will achieve uninterrupted electricity supply before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s tenure in 2027.

Adelabu made the bold pledge while speaking to journalists in Abuja, stressing that the administration’s aggressive reforms in the power sector are already laying the groundwork for reliable energy access across the nation.

“By the end of President Tinubu’s tenure in 2027, Nigerians will enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply. This is not just a promise; it is a target we are fully committed to achieving,” the minister declared.

Adelabu highlighted ongoing efforts to stabilise and expand the power grid, including substantial investments in generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure.

“We are addressing long‑standing bottlenecks, from metering gaps to power theft, while also investing in renewable energy solutions to diversify our supply sources,” he said.

The minister pointed to recent collaborations between the federal government, private investors, and international partners as “critical building blocks” toward delivering round‑the‑clock power to homes and businesses.

While many Nigerians welcomed the statement, others voiced skepticism, citing previous administrations’ unfulfilled power sector promises.

Adelabu, however, insisted that this time would be different:

“This government is not making empty promises. We have mapped out a realistic, phased plan, and we are confident that Nigerians will begin to see the difference between this approach"

Energy experts say that achieving 24‑hour power supply could transform Nigeria’s economy, boosting industries, attracting foreign investment, and improving quality of life for over 200 million citizens.

With less than three years left in President Tinubu’s first term, Adelabu’s commitment sets the stage for one of the administration’s most ambitious infrastructure goals — and one of the most closely watched promises by Nigerians.
