A Symposium/ Lecture was held on 27th December 2025 as part of the activities scheduled to mark the 2025 Ngwa Day. The Thought provoking lecture was delivered by Professor Sam Erugo SAN. Among his submissions, the Erudite Professor of Law called for the abolition of what he labelled a REQUIREMENT of Cow as part of traditional burial in Alangwa.

However, Prof failed to note the following salient points.
The case for the abolition of Nnama in Ngwa traditional burial is neither here nor there. 
1. Presentation of Cow is not mandatory in Ngwa Traditional burial as at the time of burial. However, it may be necessary in certain Circumstances. Eg When is directed to claim Inheritance of a childless deceased person.
2. There is no time line for the presentation. In that case the Children of the deceased may defer the presentation at the time of burial.
3. Presentation came be done years after.
4. There is no Cultural law that mandated the traditional presentation of cow.
5. No family has been prosecuted or ostracized.
 over their inability to bury their deceased with a cow.
6. Ngwa members of a particular Christian sect don't present Cows as part of the burial Obsequies of their members.
7. In case of a woman the chief mourner may have an understanding with his maternal kinsmen in relation with cow presentation and still bury the mother.
