Abia Warriors Defeat Kano Pillars 2-0 in NPFL Matchday 4
Abia Warriors continued their winning streak against Kano Pillars, securing a 2-0 victory at the Umuahia Township Stadium. Sunday Megwo and Emmanuel Ogbuagu scored first-half goals, condemning Kano Pillars to their second consecutive defeat.
Coach Imama Amapakabo's sole change to the starting lineup paid off, with Sunday Megwo making his first league start and scoring the opener. Megwo combined with Paul Sampson and Ayodele Ezekiel to pressure the visitors' defense.
In the 16th minute, Ojonugwa Adejoh's pass found Megwo, who rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net. The home fans erupted in joy.
Emmanuel Ogbuagu doubled the lead in the 38th minute, heading in a rebound after his initial header off a corner kick hit the crossbar.
The second half saw Kano Pillars dominate, with captain Rabiu Ali controlling the pace. Coach Imama made tactical substitutions, bringing on Ogunjimi Samuel and Daniel Ekpo.
Despite wholesale changes from both teams, no further goals were scored, and Abia Warriors held on for the win.
