The Chairman of Abia Comets Football Club, Umuahia, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, has assured fans of an improved performance from the team in the upcoming football season.
Speaking to sports journalists in Bauchi over the weekend, Uche, fondly known as "Bontus" by his supporters, highlighted the team's impressive record last season, where they went unbeaten for 12 consecutive matches in the Nigerian League. He emphasized that the squad has been strengthened to deliver an even better performance in the 2024-25 season.
"We have identified our weak points and are taking steps to address them. The technical crew is working hard, backed by full support from the management. We are committed to ensuring that Abia Comets ranks among the top teams by the end of the new season," Uche stated.
Chief Uche, whose younger brother Uche Okechukwu once captained the Super Eagles, expressed his gratitude to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his unwavering support to the team. He noted that with such backing, Abia Comets is poised for a bright future.
Additionally, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche was recently elected to the NNL Board, representing the club owners.
