Abia Comets Down Crown FC 2-0 in Aba to Edge Closer to Top Three

Abia Comets FC secured a convincing 2-0 victory over visiting Crown FC in a Matchday 16 fixture of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Southern Conference A, held on Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
Second-half goals from Ofoegbu Wisdom and Wadulu Doukumo sealed the crucial win for the Comets Boys, who continue their push toward the top three in the league standings.
Despite dominating the first half and creating several chances—most notably through the attacking duo of Wisdom and Chinaza Miracle—the hosts were unable to find the breakthrough, and both sides went into the break goalless.
Abia Comets came out stronger in the second half and maintained their grip on possession. The breakthrough finally came in the 55th minute, when Wisdom coolly slotted the ball past the Crown FC goalkeeper after latching onto a well-placed pass from midfielder Okechukwu Chukwu.
The hosts sealed all three points deep into stoppage time, as Wadulu Doukumo rose highest to nod home a pinpoint cross from Chinedu Nwankpa in the 93rd minute, sending the home crowd into celebration.
The victory lifts Abia Comets closer to the top three spots in the Southern Conference A standings, boosting their playoff ambitions with just a few games remaining.
Up next, the Aba-based side will hit the road for a Matchday 17 clash against Inter Lagos in what promises to be another important fixture in their promotion chase.
