Head coach of Abia Comets FC, Okechukwu Ejeh, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s dominant performance following their 2-0 home win over Crown FC of Ogbomosho in a Nigeria National League (NNL) Southern Conference A Matchday 16 fixture held at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

Reacting after the match, Coach Ejeh described the outing as “very good,” commending his players for their tactical discipline and fighting spirit despite missing several key squad members.

“It was a very good outing for the team,” Ejeh stated. “We controlled the game in both halves and won convincingly. We created most of the chances in the first half but couldn’t convert any. That was a low moment for us.”

Ejeh credited the team’s transformation in the second half to a timely motivational talk during the break.

“I think the pep talk during halftime rejuvenated the spirit of the boys. They came out firing on all cylinders and were duly rewarded early in the second half. We kept the pressure on our opponents, and the second goal came at the twilight of the game.”

Despite being without five first-team players due to flu and minor injuries, the Comets boss was full of praise for the replacements who stepped up.

“The boys didn’t disappoint our Aba fans. The players that came in for those sidelined lived up to expectations, which shows the level of competition and depth in the team.”

Looking ahead, Ejeh emphasized the need for consistency both home and away.

“We hope to keep up this level of performance, whether at home or away, and see where we end up on the table,” he concluded.

The victory boosts Abia Comets’ push toward the top three in their group, as they prepare for a crucial away fixture against Inter Lagos in their next match.
