Head coach of Abia Angels FC, Adanna Nwaneri, has expressed confidence in her team’s chances of making the Super Six of the 2024 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL).

Speaking after her team’s impressive performance at the recently concluded Sheroes preseason tournament in Abuja, where they finished as runners-up, Nwaneri praised the quality and determination displayed by her players.

The Abia Angels defeated Nasarawa United and Bayelsa United on their way to the final but narrowly lost 6-5 on penalties to Remo Stars after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Reflecting on her team’s efforts, the former Super Falcons player and assistant coach of the Flamingos at the last U17 World Cup, said:
“I am very proud of my girls. I returned from the U17 World Cup and had only one week of training with them, and they were able to perform brilliantly. By the time the league commences, we will be in top form.”
