A comprehensive medical check-up conducted by the Nationwide League One (NLO) has resulted in 44 players being deemed unfit to participate in the 2025 season. The medical tests, conducted by authorized doctors, revealed various health issues, including systemic hypertension and other medical conditions.

The 44 players who failed the medical tests come from 31 teams registered for the 2025 NLO season. Offa Football Club tops the list with six players failing the tests, while Camp Pro of FCT, Abuja has four players deemed unfit.

NLO's Chief Operating Officer, Olushola Ogunnowo, explained that the medical check-up is a standard procedure before the start of every season. He stated that the tests are crucial to preserving the lives of players and ensuring their safety. The affected players and their clubs have been officially notified.

The NLO emphasizes the importance of medical tests for all teams, given the large number of grassroots football talents involved in the league. With over 300 clubs across NLO Division 1 and NLO U19, the league prioritizes the health and well-being of its players.
