Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have announced the immediate dismissal of Technical Adviser Gbenga Ogunbote, General Manager Dimeji Lawal, and the entire coaching staff following a lackluster 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The decision, confirmed on Tuesday, comes in the wake of a disappointing campaign that saw the Oluyole Warriors finish 8th on the league table—well below expectations for a club that began the season with hopes of challenging for the title. 3SC wrapped up the season with 15 wins, 9 draws, and 14 losses in 38 matches.

Gbenga Ogunbote’s third stint with the Ibadan-based club ends after nearly three years. He rejoined 3SC in August 2022 and had been seen as a stabilizing figure, but inconsistency and underwhelming performances this season ultimately led to his exit.

Also shown the door is General Manager Dimeji Lawal, a former 3SC player who had served in the administrative role for several years. His departure signals a full-scale shake-up as the club looks to reset ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The sweeping changes come just weeks after a senior club official publicly denied rumors linking Ogunbote with a move to Kano Pillars, insisting at the time that he would complete his contract. However, sources suggest internal assessments and mounting pressure from fans influenced the club’s sudden shift in direction.

3SC is now working on compiling a shortlist of seasoned coaches to take over the helm before the new NPFL season kicks off on August 22, 2025. The club recently featured in the Eko International Cup as part of its pre-season preparations, but the technical overhaul means a fresh approach is now in the works.

A club statement said further announcements regarding new technical appointments will be made in the coming days.
