The 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season has officially concluded, with the Nationwide division wrapping up in style and four rising clubs earning promotion to the 2026 NWFL Championship.

Dreamstar Ladies of Lagos capped off a strong campaign by clinching top spot in Group A, marking an immediate return to the second tier after just one season in the Nationwide. Joining them in celebration are Rangers Women of Enugu, who made history by securing promotion in their debut season—a remarkable feat for the Enugu-based side.

In Group B, Solo Wonders FC of Akwa Ibom delivered a dominant performance throughout the campaign to emerge as group champions. They will be joined in the NWFL Championship by Rosaria Victrix of Imo State, who also impressed in their maiden outing to finish second and claim the final promotion spot.

With Dreamstar Ladies, Rangers Women, Solo Wonders, and Rosaria Victrix all finishing in the top two of their respective groups, they now take their place among Nigeria’s rising forces in women’s football, earning well-deserved places in the second tier of the league pyramid.

Reflecting on a landmark season for women’s football in the country, the Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Modupe Shabi, expressed her satisfaction with the execution and outcomes across all divisions.

“This 2025 season has been a remarkable journey for the NWFL. From the Premiership through the Championship to the Nationwide, we have witnessed great football, renewed competitiveness, and remarkable stories of resilience and growth across the country,” Shabi said.

She went on to commend the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under the leadership of President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, praising the Federation’s consistent support for women’s football and the strategic development of the league system.

“We owe immense gratitude to the NFF President and his board for their backing and vision, which continue to inspire the growth of the women’s game,” Shabi added. “Our appreciation also goes to the various hosts, clubs, administrators, state FAs, match officials, and the media — every stakeholder who contributed to the success of this season.”

Looking ahead, Shabi confirmed that preparations are already in motion for the early kickoff of the 2025/2026 NWFL season, promising fresh innovations and a more dynamic league structure to build on this year’s success.

The 2025 season stands as a testament to the NWFL’s unwavering commitment to growth, inclusivity, and excellence. With new talents emerging and the league’s structure steadily strengthening, women’s football in Nigeria continues its upward trajectory on both the national and continental stage.
