The stage is set for the inaugural 2024 West Africa Regional Rowing Regatta, scheduled to take place from November 21st to 24th at the BICS Boat Club, Lekki, Lagos State. Organized by the Nigeria Rowing, Canoe, and Sailing Federation with support from the regional body and World Rowing, the event will feature participants from Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana.

This groundbreaking regatta follows a recent coaching and umpiring course held in Abuja and marks the first in a series of events aimed at preparing Nigeria for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, USA. It also provides an opportunity for the federation to test new athletes, including those from the diaspora, as part of early preparations for the Olympics.

Team Benin Republic has already arrived in Lagos, with teams from Togo and Ghana expected to follow shortly.
