Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt confirmed their superiority as the league winners in 2019 when they defeated Confluence Queens of Lokoja by a lone goal in the NWPL Super 4 at the soccer temple Agege by a lone goal.

It was a fantastic way of ending the league as Evelyn Nwabuoku captain of the side during the super 4 played her last match for Rivers Angels.
” I always want to win and I am happy we won the league this time around.
It would have been a disaster if Rivers Angels had not won any trophy this season. I am glad that we also defeated Bayelsa Queens enroute to become champions of the league.

This is probably my last match for Rivers Angels and I am proud of my achievement as a player and with the club”

Evelyn Nwabuoku had captained Rivers Angels during the super 4 and had earlier in the year led the Super Falcons team B to lift the WAFU cup in Abidjan.

She joined Rivers Angels in 2009 and left for greener pastures in 2015 where she played for BIIK FC Kazygurt Kazakhstan and An evant de guingamp in France before injury forced her back home. She returned to Rivers Angels in 2017 overcoming the minor setback to win the best midfielder in the NWPL in 2018.

Rivers Angels will travel to Spain plus three million Naira cash prize for being the League winners.
