Those expecting Sporting activities to return anytime soon in the country, should start thinking twice. checks at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja revealed that the Minister, Sunday Dare may not have what it takes to convince the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on the need to gradually return sporting activities to the country.

The Minister, we gathered may have lost interest in the Sporting aspect of his portfolio and concentrated more on the more lucrative Youth aspect of the Ministry.

The inactivity of the Minister in the power play of government may have cumulated in the vibrant and more purposeful Ministry of Special Duties shoving him aside, and taken over the offices they have been occupying at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja for over two decades. Staff of the Ministry were ejected from the office, and we’re seen hanging around other offices at the Secretariat, with the minister looking the other way while his staff loiter about.

The minister we further gathered has paid more attention to the lucrative Youth aspects of his Ministry to the detriments of sports. This no doubt, has contributed to his inability to make a robust presentation to the government on the need to open up the Sporting sector, even if it is with the individual sports.

On assumption of office, the who came with the promise of turning round the Abuja National Stadium (Moshood Abiola Stadium), went further to sign an MOU with Dangote Companies, but one year after, he only succeeded in organizing an elaborate ceremony in the unveiling of the sign board at the stadium.

The Sporting Federation are wallowing in crisis and debts, while the minister recently secured a N75 billion grant from the federal government for the Youths.

The failure of the Ministry to release funds to the Nigeria Football Federation has made it impossible for them to pay the Super Eagles, U.23 among others their outstanding allowances and bonuses.
