Coach Paul Ofor of rave-making Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Sporting Lagos has said it’s not a secret that they wish to play in the country’s elite division the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
According to the smooth-talking gaffer, they just want to play entertaining football and try to win every game as a reward to their numerous fans who support them come what may.
He though stated that there is no pressure from anybody or quarter for them to promote to the NPFL, instead what is important is that the team is building its philosophy.
“It’s not a secret that Sporting Lagos wants to play in the NPFL. Our goal is to win every game and when you win every game, at the end of the season you will know where you are.
“But there is no pressure from anybody for us to step up to the NPFL. The most important thing is that as a team we are building our philosophy.
“We are very young, this club was started last year, this is our second season, so we just want to take it a step at a time while we enjoy the ride”, he said.
The pragmatic coach Ofor reiterated that their large fan base demand exciting football as they cheer them on with every great move the players make.
“We just want to win. You know our fan base, they demand entertaining football, they demand good football. They come out to support us no matter what’s happening. Whether we are winning or losing in the game, they are always behind us, so they deserve good football.
“Every game we play our intention is that we make them happy and one of the ways to make them happy is to get 3 points”.
He however emphasized that the pressure of splashing the cash is his greatest challenge.
“You know Sporting Lagos gives you everything. And when they give you everything because seriously Sporting Lagos gives you everything, it comes with its own pressure.
“Kudos to the management they try to provide you with good training pitch, give you all the training equipments to make your job easy, want a player they get him for you, the welfare of the players are topnotch. Honestly they are amazing.
“So it comes with pressure too when you have everything you want. You lose, you look at yourself and your squad. But football is about win, draw or lose which are the three results you get in football.
“But kudos again to my management they are really doing everything to make sure that we perform”, he concluded.
