Professor Peter Olatunde Ajagbona has been appointed the first Director of University of Abuja Directorate of Sports.
The Directorate replaces the elsewhere Sports Unit in the university which was under Dean of Students Affairs
Professor Ajagbona attended University of Ibadan, where he graduated with a degree of Veterinary Medicine. He also had a Masters degree in Physiology from the University of Lagos Masters and a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacology from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto. The appointment of the Director of Sports is for two year.
In another development, three students of the University that took part in the just ended Nigeria President Open Taekwondo Championship in Abuja, all won bronze medals.
The students are Ogbu Obinna Kenneth a 400 level, Daniel Prince Chukwudi a100 level and Itiku Peter Osaro a 300 level. They all fought in the 80 kg ( Welter weight ) Olympic weigh category
Professor Ajagbona in a congratulatory message commended the athletes for the great works, and the good results. Promising to lead them to present the medals to the Vice Chancellor soon.
