Findings at the Glasshouse Secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation have revealed that the Technical crew of the National U. 17 team may incur the wrath of the egg heads in the Football House if they continue to treat the Future Eagles players in camp with attitude.
This tabloid gathered on Tuesday, that the the football house is not too happy over the attitude the Coaches are showing towards the Future Eagles players in the camp. Close watchers in the camp revealed that the Coaches are merely tolerating the players in camp believing that they are too young to be part of the team. The NFF sources said that players are hardly carried along in the programs.
“we are monitoring everything closely and taking notes. We don’t want to be accused of interfering in the activities of the coaches. Despite inviting over over 50 players to camp, the coaches threw the camp open allowing over 1000 other players to partake in the screening, which we are not against. Because, there are possibilities that other players that are not seen can be identified in such programs. But what we can not accept is trying to jettison the concept of NFF on the Future Eagles program for other agenda”.
Continuing, the source who is supposed to know in the Football House said “we are not dictating for the coaches, but we want them to key into the youth development programs of the NFF. Some of the Future Eagles players were identified right from the U. 13 level. We took them to friendly matches in Morocco. They later graduated to U. 15 and were part of the Nigerian team that won silver at the last African Youth Games in Algeria. Early this year, they took part in the U. 16 invitational tournament in Japan. They are about 16 years now. If they are not part of the present U. 17 team, it means that all the government and corporate investment on them have wasted. That is why we insisted that they must be part of this Golden Eaglets team, and we want the coaches to understand and be in line with us. What we can not accept is the Coaches frowning at the presence of the boys, or saying that they are too young to be part of the team. We must build for the future, and that future must start now” our source who frowned at calling the Future Eagles players as “inexperienced” concluded.
