The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has commended the
hardwork, commitment and diligent service of a veteran Athletics
Officer, Mrs. Maria Whophill, an Assistant Director in the Federation
Elite and Athletic Department, who has been nominated as a recipient
of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)
Veteran PIN Award in recognition of her long and meritorious service
to the cause of World Athletics.
By this award, Mrs. Maria Whophill will join fellow recipients in the
award ceremony slated for 24th September, 2019 which will take place
during the Opening ceremony of the 52nd IAAF Congress at the Qatar
National Convention Centre in Doha.
It is worthwhile to note that the International Association of
Athletics Federations is the governing body for Sport of Athletics;
with a 215 member Federations. It was founded on 17 July 1912 as the
International Amateur Athletic Federation by representatives from 17
National Athletics Federations at the Organisation’s First Congress in
Stockholm, Sweden.
