The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District and YPP Candidate for the upcoming 2023 General Elections, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah on Tuesday, 7th February 2023, donated a total of 6000 streetlights with surveillance cameras, 1000 walkie talkies and others security gadgets to Anambra state Government.
Senator Ubah handed over the security and ICT gadgets to the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium, Ozubulu-Nnewi during the Anambra South Security Surveillance and Information Technology Summit.
Ubah emphasized that the gesture was part of his “Secure Anambra South Project” aimed at combating security issues and wiping out criminal elements permanently in the state.
“Today we have established an alliance between the offices of the Anambra South Senatorial District and the government of Anambra State under the leadership of H.E Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo on ways of combating insecurity in our state.
“We have an existing group of trained personnel here who are saddled with the responsibility of protecting the investments as well as to ensure a seamless collaboration with other security agencies which will aid investors to continue their business and other dealings with out harbouring any form of fear,” Ubah said.
In his response, Governor Soludo described Ubah as “a true onye Anambra and appreciated him for his contributions towards stemming the tide of insecurity in the state.
He said: “Senator Ifeanyi Ubah is a true onye Anambra, so I appreciate, congratulate, and applaud him on behalf of the government and good people of Anambra State. We gladly accept this gift for the safety of Anambra South.
“I must express my sincere gratitude to Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for coming up with this specific idea to secure Anambra South. The seven local governments in Anambra South, including Ogbaru, were under siege when I took over office.
“Because of the gun violence and homicides that were occurring at the time, we couldn’t conduct campaigns in these areas adequately.
“We made the decision to take on these crooks and retake our state. Everyone’s job is to protect lives and property. Men, women, and children all have a part to play. Speak up if you see something,” Soludo said.
Soludo also reassured the citizenry that the security equipment would be utilized even as the skilled security people were poised to adhere to the Anambra State Vigilante Law and Police Act.
