March 06 07:41 2020

In keeping with his administration’s sustained commitment to the long neglected, as well as giving the rural dwellers a sense of belonging, the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, today, accompanied by his Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, embarked on a pre-contract inspection of Amurri road preparatory to the commencement of its Phase 3 amid jubilation.

It would recalled that Gov Ugwuanyi’s administration was the first to bring infrastructural development to Amurri Community, through the construction of the Phase 1 & 2 of of its access road from Agbani – a remarkable feat that earned the governor the Chieftaincy title of “Aka Na Edozi Obodo I of Amurri”.

Conferring the Chieftaincy title on Gov. Ugwuanyi, during the 10th Anniversary/Ofala Festival of the traditional ruler of Amurri Ancient Kingdom, HRH Igwe Charles Egbo Nwoye, held last year December, the Monarch told the governor that the jubilant people of the community were deeply indebted to him for giving them a sense of belonging after decades of neglect by past administrations.

Igwe Nwoye disclosed that Ugwuanyi was also the first governor, in the history of Eastern Region of Nigeria, old Anambra State, old Enugu State and the present Enugu State, to visit Amurri Community unannounced to identify and address some of their major challenges.

At today’s brief reception for the governor, the traditional rulers of the four autonomous communities in Amurri prayed for Gov. Ugwuanyi, beseeching God “it shall continually be well with you”.

The Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye, who is an indigene of Amurri, the Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Chief Nwabueze Nnamani, his Nkanu East LGA counterpart, Engr. Abel Uchenna Nwobodo, the Chairman of Enugu Sports Club, Hon. Onyeka Onwe, who is also an indigene of the community, were among the dignitaries on ground to receive the people’s governor.

The proposed Phase 3 of the road spans from Obeagu Ama-Nkanu Amurri to Enugu-Agu Amurri.
