Nigeria’s Rivers United are billed to fly out of the country Friday, February 23, Democratic Republic of Congo, ahead Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup group B matchday three fixture against Motema Pembe, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
The Pride of Rivers are now in rich scoring vein, having netted five times in two games going into Sunday’s clash.
Stanley Eguma’s side made a quick dash back to base immediately after Wednesday’s NPFL rescheduled game away to Bayelsa United. It ended in two-all Square.
“We’ve returned to Port Harcourt”, Technical Manager, Stanley Eguma, told Exclusivenews.com.ng Wednesday night.
“We’ve put the game against Bayelsa United behind us. It’s unfortunate we threw conceded a late goal that denied us the maximum points.
“Our defenders did not react on time to the long ball into our box, allowing attacking opponents to pounce”, Eguma said.
“But our attention has shifted to the continent. Our game to Motema Pembe is very important and we’ll leave Port Harcourt tomorrow morning for Lagos.
“And from there we travel to Congo on Friday”, Eguma, who’s called Capelo by admirers explained to Exclusivenews.com.ng.
The contingent will include about 21 players, Technical officials and as well management personnel, including NFF Accompanying Secretary and interpreter.
They are billed to fly out aboard Askiya Airline, same airline that air-lifted them to Diables Noirs in the opening fixture of the group games.
Rivers United are strong running for a top two finish in the group, having three points from two games.
