Desire Oparanozie’s goal and an assist was all her team Wuhan Jiangda needed to open a three points gap over Barbra Banda’s Shanghai in the Chinese Women League.
Wuhan and Shanghai hold the same record ahead of the game with seven wins and draw in their previous eight games and tied on top of the table in the Chinese Women’s Super League.
Oparanozie opened the scoring for the visitors as she headed in a cross from the left wing to break the deadlock for Wuhan Jiangda in the 49th minute.
The former Super Falcons captain went ahead to provide an assist for Malawian international, Temwa Chawinga who made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute.
Oparanozie has scored three league goals for Wuhan Jiangda this season as the league holders continue their quest to retain the title.
With her current exploits, the Nigeria international will hope her fine form for club will put her in contention for selection ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
