President of Oladimeji Onikeku Sports Foundation and Secretary of Customs volleyball team,Samuel Onikeku has stated that his target is to unearth more beach volleyball players for the country
Samuel who spoke at the just concluded Sallah beach volleyball open challenge in Jikwoyi Nyanya,Abuja said ‘unlike the regular volleyball there is no much competition for the beach volley ballers and this is my own way of contributing to the growth of the game in the country’
‘You can imagine the kind of players that participated in the competition, national team players,players from as far as sokoto coming to be part of this event,it shows it is not about money but they just want to compete’
He went further to highlight their plans for the championships
‘Our plans is to continue to provide the enabling environment for these players to compete and we hope to organise this event regularly having seen the massive turn out of players’
24 male teams and 22 female teams participated in the competition where Warriors of Abuja emerged the champion in male event while Kada spikers won the female event.
