Oba Archdeaconry Thursday swept all medals in the Girls Long Jump event as the 2023 Diocese On the Niger Bishop Owen Nwokolo Secondary Schools Sports Competition enters day four.
Okoye Chidiogo won the gold in the event while Emebo Chidinma won the silver just as Ebele Okafor won the bronze as Oba Archdeaconry swept all the three medals available in the event.
In the Shot,Put Boys event, Ifeanyi Thanked also of Oba Archdeaconry won the silver as the gold went to Azifuaku Chinedu of Cathedral. Victor Oramali of Onitsha Main threw to the bronze medal feat.
Exclusivenews.com.ng reports that Ukachukwu Chukwuemeka of DMGS Onitsha won the 800m gold in the Boys category while Okotie Daniel of St Marks Oba raced to silver medal just as Holy Cross’ Victory Nwankwo went home with the bronze.
Oba Archdeaconry also won the gold medal in the 4×400m (girls) with Emebo Chidinma and her quartet finishing the race first before others.
The silver medal went to Ifeanyi Amuche of Osha Main and her quartet while Favour of Nkpor New and her group went home with bronze medal.
In the Girls 400m, Oba Archdeaconry put their superiority on visibly display as Amuche Ezeani and Emebo Chidinma won the gold and bronze medals respectively, leaving the silver for Favour Onwe of Omagba Archdeaconry.
In the 4×400m Boys category, Izobeme Miracle of Cathedral, Onitsha won the gold while the silver medal went to Obot Olabara of Onitsha Main with Promise Umeh of St Paul’s Model School, Oba, taking home the bronze.
Organisers said 100m final (Boys and Girls) as well as 4×100m (Boys and Girls) will be decided on the final day of the competition, Saturday May 27, 2023.
Also, the final of the football event has been slated as part of the closing day events.
Already, DMGS Onitsha have sealed their place in the final following a 3-1 triumph over St. Paul’s, Oba.
They will slug it out with the winner of the second semi final match between Patterson Grammar School, Onitsha and St. Christopher’s Seminary.
