By: Tony Ademodi

After 19 matches played in the NPFL, the league goes on a mid season break, to resume in the third week of April 2021.

Here, we take a look at the probables and analysis so far.

6 NPFL clubs that have stood out so far.

  1. KWARA UTD Fc The “Afonja Warriors seem to be the suprise package so far this season.

Thier form so far have seen them sit top of the NPFL log half way into the season.
Coach Abdullahi Biffo and his team has been brilliant so far and will be hoping to continue during the second half of the season.

Notable players: Stephen Jude, Micheal Ohanu, Jide Fatokun, Chinedu Ufure, have raised the bar for the ilorin based team.

  1. AKWA UTD Fc.

The “promise keepers” look like the team that could also be challengers for the title, with thier late run of form towards the half way mark of the league season.

Coach Kennedy Boboye has trusted the likes of Ndifreke Effiong, Mfon Udoh, Seth Mayi, Charles Atshimene, Morice Chukwu and Olisa Ndah.

These players have not dissapointed and that’s why they have one of the best unbeaten run in the league so far.

Will the Uyo based side continue with these spark of life in the second half of the season? I sincerly think they will be a boogey team during the league second stanza, as i feel Coach Kennedy Boboye and Chaiman of the club Etubom Paul Bassey have made good replacements in the mid season transfer window with the acqusition of exciting young winger, Nasiru Jubrin from Wikki Tourists Fc, Adams Yakubu from Adamawa United Fc and a few others, the Uyo team certainly will be a delight to watch in the second stabza.

The “Sai Masugida” Have blown hot and cold so far, taking a look at how the season has been for them.

They are a tradition team in the league, and also have a goood history of challenging for honours.

Pillars former coach Lionel Soccia, seem not to have understood what the NPFL looks like, and he paid for it, after some bleeps in the team.

The return of Coach Ibrahim Musa, seems to be a marriage made in heaven, as he has returned Kano Pillars to stand a chance of competing.

With veteran old War horse and NPFL legend, Rabiu Ali still commanding in the midfield for Kano Pillars, strikers Nyima Nwagwa, Ebuka Odenigbo,
Awulu Ali Malam and the newly signed Kokoette Udo from Dakkada Fc and Uche Sabastine from Akwa United will be hoping to give the “Pyramid City” team a chance for the league challenge.

The “Flying Antelopes” may not have really found thier groove so far, but with Coach Salisu Yusuf in charge of the team, then you will expect his experience to come to bear.

Enugu Rangers have got some of the best legs in the league in Ibrahim Olawoyin, Christian Nnaji, Isreal Abia, Femi Ajayi, Tony Shimaga, Ebuka Anthony, Uche John, Kenechukwu Agu amongst others, One would expect the “Coal City” club to be up there.

Enugu Rangers Fans will be hoping they can give them a continental ticket come the end of the season.

The “Solid Miners” have been solid in the first stanza so far.

Theyve also enjoyed some good run of form, and have silenced most of thier Critics especially with good displays from Franklin Tebo, Ikenna Ofor, Chinedu Ohanachom, Adamu Hassan Silas Nwakwo and Reuben Nicodemus.

Coach Bala Nikyu has got an experienced club chairman in Barrister Isaac Danladi, so the Lafia based club might want to punch above thier weight this season.

Certainly one of the Contenders for the title, season in season out.

For some, they may be looking at the current position of the “Peoples Elephant” on the NPFL log, but certainly, if you’ve followed procedings in the NPFL, then you will recall that Enyimba have got some outstanding games to play due to thier continental assignments.

Is there any season in the last 7 years that Enyimba havent challenged for the title?

Coach Fatai Osho has got the luxury of having a star studded team, that most NPFL Coaches would love to have in thier team.

In exciting Winger Anayo Iwuala, Enyimba has got a pure talent.

Strikers Tosin Omoyele, Victor Mbaoma, Captain Fantastic Austin Oladapo, Cyril Olisema, Dayo Ojo, Anthony Omaka, Jean Maria Guerre, Gabriel Orok, Imo Obot, Enyimba Fc once again is the cynosure of all.

A visit to the Enyimba players camp in Aba, will make you see how star studded the team is, as even some players who are struggling to make the starting XI for coach Fatai Osho will easily walk into other NPFL teams and take the captains Armban.

Thier fans will be hoping also that Enyimba make another statement in the CAF Confederations Cup as the sole representatives of Nigeria.
