NPFL 2021 : LMC adjusts Second Round Kick off date

The League Management Company (LMC) organizers of the Nigeria Professional Football League has readjusted the earlier May 9 kick off fixtures of the second round of the 2021 NPFL season.

The second round fixtures will now begin on Saturday 8 May 2021 with a match involving Jigawa Golden Stars and Lobi Stars of Makurdi. The match will be played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

However, other matches will be played on Sunday 9 May at nine other centres. They will include FC Ifeanyi Ubah who will be returning to their home in Nnewi to play MFM of Lagos. Akwa United will be at home to Sunshine Stars. Abia Warriors will travel to Jos to Jos to face Plateau United whom they defeated by two goals to one in the first stanza Rivers United will be home to Dakkada FC, while Enyimba and Rangers International will settle scores in Aba. Nasarawa United will trade tackles with Kwara United, with Katsina United playing host to Wikki Tourists. Adamawa United will be home to Heartland FC in Gombe, with Kano Pillars traveling to Ozoro to confront Warri Wolves.

The LMC in a memo to the clubs, made available to and signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Salisu Abubakar said the postponement of some of the matches was as a result of Enyimba International participation in the CAF cup, and that some of the matches have been rescheduled, while space will be sort for the remaining matches.

“consequently, the second round of the 2020 /2021 season will resume with matches of MD 20 on 8th and 9th May as adjusted” the COO said.

He reminded clubs to adhere strictly to all the Covid – 19 protocols as approved by the Federal Government.
