The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare is taking concrete steps to break away from the usual norm by becoming the first minister to secure a public private partnership for sports sponsorship in the country.
Sunday Dare who recently had a meeting with Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, said their initial discussion which centered on public private partnership was fruitful.
In an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, the minister said Dangote is interested in a sports project that is self sustaining and one that can help in turning around the country’s fortunes in sports development.
Dare went further by saying ‘it is just the first step towards having private partnership in sports development, and who else is better to start with, than Africa’s richest man who happens to be a Nigerian’
He said the ministry would still hold further discussions with Dangote in the series of discussions line up with him.
Dangote has investment in wide ranging sectors of the global economy except sports even thought he was at a time reported to be interested in buying arsenal football club.
