Residents of the popular Suya junction located at PPL Bus Stop, Okokomaiko in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State woke up Monday morning to the sad news of three members of the same family who died of suspected food poisoning in their shop.
The decomposing bodies of the three persons comprising of their mother popularly known as Mama Mariam and her two daughters were discovered by residents of the area following a foul odour coming out from the shop.
Newstap correspondent reliably gathered that the woman, a mother of three who resides with her husband at Ashawu Apake street, Okokomaiko which is very close to her shop was always having quarrels with her husband whom she accused of having extra- martial affairs and most times decides to sleep with her children in the shop or travel to Ibadan to allow tempers cool down before coming back to her matrimonial home.
Investigation further revealed that following their quarrel last Friday, she informed the husband that she will be traveling to Ibadan on Saturday but unknown to the man, she never made such travel and when he tried to get her on phone to confirm whether they have gotten to Ibadan, her phone was switched off.
This development made the husband not to bother looking for them when they did not come back Saturday because according to him , she always switch off her phone whenever they had problem.
The confused husband who tried to commit suicide after discovering their dead bodies but was saved by sympathizers lamented that his only remaining child is in boarding school which was what saved her from death and wondered how he will pick up from the loss.
“I’m still at a loss on what happened. Now my wife and two daughters are death and nobody can explain what happened. If not that my other daughter is in boarding school, probably she would have died also and how do I overcome this calamity”, he asked in confused state
Meanwhile, Police men from Ojo Divisional Police Station have waded into the matter to unravel the mistry surrounding their death.
A Police man at the station who spoke to newstap.com.ng on condition of anonymity said they have commenced investigation on the matter and will carry out an autopsy to determine the cause of their death.
