The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has assured athletes for the 12th All African Games in Morocco of adequate support that will enhance their performance at the Game.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Olusade Adesola made this assertion while inspecting the trials that was going on at the Abuja National Stadium recently.
According to him,’we want to be transparent in our dealings with the athletes and ensure that the major players are properly taken care of’
Meanwhile, ahead of the forth coming Game, the Ministry has rolled out a lot of Programmes in preparation for a successful and hitch free outing in the Game.
A total of 17 Sports which includes Athletics, Aquatic, Badminton, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Chess, Gymnastics, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Shooting, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Weight lifting and Wrestling are currently undergoing their trials at different locations at Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Yenagoa from 24th T0 29th June 2019.
At the end of the trials, qualified, Athletes will go into camp which will commence from 5th of July and will run for 42 Days before departure to Morocco on August 16th2019.
Currently the Athletes are been made to undergo a Doping Test to ensure a free and clean slate outing for the country and the Athletes at the end of the game. The Ministry wishes the athletes excellent performance at the Game.
