Piaglara, who is in Nigeria to train Nigerians in Track cycling said Nigeria has huge talent for the game and facilities to help them horn their skills
‘With the velodrome at the National Stadium, Abuja, Nigeria can host world championships’.
` I was very surprise because I found a model status that is conformed to UCI regulation. But I know that the volodrome is not yet certify and this should be done as soon as possible’.
‘This structure is very modern and very good. I hope for the best for the Nigeria people and the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN). I pray that the Africa Cup Track will be the first time but not the last’.
He went further to state that Africa track cycling competition that Nigeria is hosting ‘ will open up Nigeria and Africa for other cycling championships in the near future’.
“This competition will represent the beginning of a great cause for the future of the young riders and the future of Africa Cycling in general, Piaglara said.
Piaglara called on the Africa Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) to improve training of officials for track cycling in Africa and Nigeria adding that with the Abuja velodrome, CAC can host lot of competitions.
`Recalled that the Velodrome Abuja is the only one in Africa and one of the best in the world.
The velodrome which was built in 2003 is going to be put to use for the first time after over 16 years of neglect.
