
Rangers International F.C’ mercurial midfielder, Chiamaka Madu has
described the second leg, first round Total/CAF Confederation cup
2019/2020 tie against Gabonese side, A.S Pelican as a must win game so
as to realize the dreams of doing better than they did last term in
the same competition.
In a chat, the former Sharks F.C star who have blossomed since
pitching tent with the ‘Flying Antelopes’ for over three seasons said
that despite his absence in the set up for now due to injury sustained
at the end of season, NPFL playoff in Lagos, he has strong belief in
his colleagues doing the needful to qualify for the next round of the
competition.
“I think the game is a must win game for us if we must qualify for the
next round of the competition. The expectations of our fans all over
the world is to get a win against Pelican of Gabon which I am sure we
are prepared to get due to the high intensity training by our coaches.
By the special grace of God, we shall earn our win on Sunday in
Enugu,” said Madu.
On the motivation level in the team, Chiamaka said, “I think we need
to get to the group stage. We need to go a step better than what we
did last season. That is enough motivation for the entire team couple
with the ever present management and government to answer to any of
our needs towards achieving our targets in both domestic and
continental engagements this season.”
The midfield maestro said that the team has put the 2-1 loss in
Libreville behind them and focused on getting the result that will
propel the seven-time Nigeria league champions to the next round while
assuring his fans that he would be back on the pitch soon enough to
help push for the club’ targets this term stressing, “Chiamaka Madu is
gradually getting back to full fitness and I think it’s better I come
back stronger than rushing into the game. By God’s grace, it is going
to be very soon. I really appreciate the efforts put by management in
my recovery.”
