DMGS Battles St. Christopher’s Seminary In Final As Bishop Owen Nwokolo Diocese On The Niger Seconday Schools Sports Competition Ends In Style

The 2023 edition of the Diocese On the Niger Bishop Owen Nwokolo Secondary Schools competition comes to a fitting end today, 27 May, with Dennis Memorial Grammar School tackling St. Christopher’s Seminary in the football event.

DMGS saw off St. Paul’s Oba 3-1 in the semi final while St. Christopher’s eased past Bishop Onyemelukwe Secondary School 1-0 to set up today’s final confrontation against the famous DMGS.

The closing ceremony of the Sports meet has been slated for the Sports Complex of the All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Onitsha, at 10:am.

Also on the front burner during the closing ceremony is the 100m race for Boys and Girls as well as 4×100m race for boys and girls.

Organisers have disclosed that the Diocese on the Niger Education Commission Secretary, Rev. Canon Nwachukwu Uzo Okeke, will be the Chief Host on the occasion with Managment members of the Commision, Principals of DONEC Schools, equally in attendance.

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Zunamedic Oil and Gas, Sir Azubike Umunna, is slated to be the Guest of,Honour.

“There will be many other distinguished personalities including emeritus President of Anambra All Stars Sports Club and an elected member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Barrister Patty Okafor, ‘General’ Chikelue Iloenyosi, Chairman Anambra State Football Association, Amb. Sir Ikenna Umeh, Sir Nonso Okenu, Barr. Ozoemena Erinne (Ozone), Engr Okey Okeke, Sir Alex Okenwa and a host of others”, Sir Victor Nwangwu said.
