Desert Warriors of Algeria goes into the semifinal of the cup of nations for the 7th time after beating Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties as the match ended 1-1 after extra time.
Ivorian captain and Bony Wilfred had lost their kicks giving the Desert Warriors the fillip to appear against Super Eagles of Nigeria in the semifinal on Sunday at 8pm.
S. Feghouli had opened scoring at 20′ making every first scorer in this tournament to always win the match but J. Kodjia in shirt no 14 equalized in 62′.
Most wonderful and in all matches involving Algeria is the low fouls and yellow cards they get in each match. Algeria had 26 fouls to CIV 32; 2 yellows to 6 and no offside to one of CIV.
The game was very rough and had too many stoppages and protests.
Algeria lost a penalty kick that would have concluded the game earlier.
