BURATAI CAUTION POLITICIANS ON SPONSORING TERRORISM

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General, Tukur Buratai, has called on the National Assembly to prevail on politicians to make national interest paramount before sectional or personal interest.

The Army Chief who spoke in Maiduguri when the members of the House Committee on Army visited him at the Operation Lafia Dole Headquarters in Maiduguri said the Army has strong evidence that the myriads of security challenges currently facing the nation were sponsored by some politicians who lost 2019 elections.

General Buratai, said the security challenges in the northwest, north central and other parts of the country, is believed to be the fall-out of the just-concluded general elections.

He said that some politicians who are not happy about their defeats saw it as a way of trying to revenge, by sponsoring these criminal activities in the country.

“There are strong political undertone and strong political influence including the kidnappings,  I want use this opportunity to call on the chairman and honourable members to prevail on some of these politicians to really look at National interest first before any other political or sectional interest. We have some strong evidence but we are still being concerned so that we won’t get it wrong“, he added

He further advised the politicians who are bent on bringing the nation down or inflicting injuries on innocent Nigerians to desist from it, or face the full wrath of the law.
