Alleged Assault: Senate To Investigate Sen. Abbo

The Senate has set up an adhoc committee to investigate reports of alleged assault of a lady by the Senator, representing the Adamawa north senatorial district, Elisha Abbo in Abuja.

The issue was raised during plenary on Wednesday, by Senator Uba Sani, Kaduna Central who is worried that the incident is capable of tarnishing the image and integrity of the Senate.

He said it is important for the Upper Chamber to take a decisive action on the matter.

Ruling on the motion, the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan said the Senate will not condone such act of violence.

A seven member Adhoc committee, headed by Senator Sam Egwu was immediately constituted to investigate the incident.

The committee which also has Senators Stella Oduah and OLUREMI TINUBU as members, has two weeks to report its findings.
