AITEO FA Cup Final Ends Rowdily


The 2019 AITEO NFF CUP FINAL for men played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna ended rowdily as fans trooped to the field after the match ended stalling the ceremonial aspect featuring the presentation of medals.
Security men had to come to the field with sticks and guns but fans stayed put running round the field like pursued rats.
Kano Pillars had ended the 66-year-old jinx against any victory for Kano teams in a hard way against Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
Both teams ended regulation time goalless but Kano Pillars obtained victory via a 4-3 penalty shootouts.
Both Raccah Rovers and Kano Pillars had tried to lift the trophy before.
Raccah lost to Shootings Stars of Ibadan in 1978 and in 1991 Pillars lost to Elkanemi warriors of Maiduguri 3-2.
Despite the occupation of the field, the organizers still had the medal presentation.
Earlier at the same venue, the Nasarawa Amazons had defeated the Rivers Angels 5-4 on penalties after a barren draw to win their first title.
