Players of Nigeria U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets have started arriving the country in batches from Algeria where they crashed out of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, not accompanied by any official of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF
The team which lost at the quarter final stage on Thursday to Burkina Faso 2-1, were seen arriving in the country in batches with no Nigeria Football Federation officials with them.
Top source within the NFF complained about the shoddy arrangement made by the federation for the players
“It’s s really sad that our national team could be treated like this even though they did not qualify for the World Cup, but these are young boys still trying to find their way in life
“You can imagine putting them inside plan without any officials to accompany them. That is the height of ineptitude on the path of NFF,”‘ the source said
Reports gathered confirmed that some of the players came in on Sunday while some on Monday and the remaining will return to the country on Tuesday.
Report emerged over the weekend that the federation has sacked Coach Nduka Ugbade following the none qualification to the 2023 U-17 World Cup.
The NFF has not denied the report.
