Abia warriors enterprising winger Paul Samson fondly called Drogba took time to relish his games so far, especially in the 2018/2019 Abridge League season, where he shone like a million stars to the delight of the coaches and the fans.
The former Supreme Court of Abuja winger played a major role last season that saw Abia Warriors escape an imminent drop, but ended fifth on the log, at the end of the season. This many football enthusiasts described as a miracle for a relegation bound team to finish among the table toppers.
The dashing winger has been with the Umuahia based club but shot himself into limelight last season as he took advantage of the little playing time apportioned to him to be an intergral player of the team with numerous assist and goals to his name.
Abia Warriors media caught up with the set piece specialist as he extensively talked about his last season and his rapid improvement.
“The Improvement in my game did not come by magic but as a result of hardwork and self denial of things that would militate against my growth in the game. Moreover, i wanted to make the Umuahia football fans happy and my father in club, Pastor Emeka Inyama who believed so much in me. Whenever, i put on the club’s jersey, i put all these at the back of my mind”.
“To achieve this, I always go extra miles away from the team trainings because that is the only way i can be an exceptional and achieve my aims. I got to know this from my understudy of the life of my idol DIDIER DROGBA off and on the pitch and i got to realise that only hardwork can bring through the calibre of quality player i wish to be”.
“I wish to use this medium to thank the team coaches for believing in me and their encouragement off and on the pitch was the driving force to all my exploits last season. The Improvement in my game really excites me and i look foward to do more in the coming season”
The player who is an abundant of skills is always a beauty to behold in matches. His mesmerizing runs and footworks are second to none and that is why he is always a nightmare to defenders.
His set pieces prowess is one of his greatest assest, and can never be overlooked as he is one of the freekick specialist in the league. He climbed off the bench last season aganist Plateau United at the Umuahia township and expertisely converted a set piece that saved the team from a home defeat.
