The Ministry of youth and sports development has expressed deep shock over news of the death of the President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Hon. Yahaya Mohammed, whose death occurred on Saturday April 18 after a brief illness in Kano.
In a press release made available to exclusivenews.com.ng the permanent secretàry extolled virtues of the hon . Yahaya Mohammed and his contributions to the sport of Weightlifting. His leadership took the sport to greater heights and opened new vistas. He inspired his Lifters to win the highest number of medals for our nation at any completion ever, 16 Gold, 13 Silver and 18 Bronze medals at the 2019 African Games.
The permanent secretary ,Gabriel Aduda on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, extend my heart-felt condolences to his family, the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation and the Government and good people of Jigawa State on this irreplaceable loss.
